AFV Club 35325 is a 1:35 scale model of the American M15 Special 40mm CGMC anti-aircraft half-track, depicting a vehicle used by the 209th AAA Battalion during operations in the Philippines in 1944–1945. The "Special" version was a field modification of the standard M15 that incorporated a single 40mm Bofors gun.
The kit features newly developed parts for the fighting compartment and gun platform, as well as a highly detailed chassis, suspension, engine, and driver's cab interior.
The gun barrel is made of metal, while the fighting compartment shielding is molded from very thin plastic, preserving the correct scale and delicate nature of the components. The standard M15 Combination Gun Motor Carriage was an anti-aircraft vehicle built on the M3 half-track chassis. It was originally armed with an M1 37mm cannon and two heavy machine guns. During wartime operations, some vehicles were modified by replacing the original armament with a single Bofors 40mm gun.
These modified vehicles became unofficially known as the M15 "Special". Modifications of this type were carried out in the Pacific theater, and the vehicles were used by units such as the 209th AAA Battalion during the Philippines campaign. The installation of the Bofors gun provided increased firepower and improved capabilities for engaging both aerial and ground targets.
