A new era of long haul passenger air travel was inaugurated in October 2007 with the entry into airline service of the A380. The A380 is the most advanced, spacious and eco-efficient airliner in service today. Per passenger, the A380 has unmatched fuel efficiency of less than three litres per passenger per 100 kilometers. Its new-generation engines, Rolls-Royce Trent 900 or Engine Alliance GP7000, and superb aerodynamic performance mean that the A380 does not only comply with today's noise limits but is also significantly quieter than any other large aircraft flying today. The Reveal of the A380 on 18 January 2005 marked the launch of Airbus' new livery. The change in livery was the first for Airbus since introduction of the A320. The A380 was the first aircraft to display the company's new colours that reflect not only Airbus' current market position but also its ambitions to pursue aviation excellence long into the future.
