Plastic model kit depicting the German Dornier Do 217 J-1/J-2 Nachtjäger night fighter. The assembled model measures approximately 24.5 cm in length. The kit includes decals for five marking variants, a painting mask, and full-color assembly instructions. The figure shown in the manufacturer's materials is not included.
The Dornier Do 217 was a twin-engine bomber and reconnaissance aircraft used by the Luftwaffe during World War II. The versatile design allowed various versions of the aircraft to be used for bombing missions, attacking surface targets, and operating at night.
The Do 217 J-1 and J-2 versions were developed as night fighters intended to counter Allied bombers. The aircraft featured a distinctive glazed nose and powerful armament mounted in the forward fuselage. The J-2 version also featured the Lichtenstein airborne radar, enabling detection and guidance of targets at night.
Armature armament included 20 mm cannons and 7.92 mm machine guns. The Do 217 J-1/J-2 was not among the most agile German night fighters, but its robust design, long range, and powerful armament made it a valuable platform for night operations against Allied aircraft. The manufacturer states a maximum speed of approximately 500 km/h.
Some Do 217 aircraft were also transferred to the Italian Air Force. One of the marking variants shown in the kit depicts the aircraft used by the Regia Aeronautica in 1943.
Note: The kit does not include glue or paints. Basic modeling tools are also required to build the model.
