The first prototype of the Vickers F.B.27 "Vimy" bomber performed its maiden flight on 30 November 1917. A decision was taken in 1918 to launch its production, and one aircraft of this type was redeployed to France in October of the same year. However, the "Vimy" earned its renown owing to its super long-range flights performed in it after WWI. For instance, Captain Sir John William Alcock and Lieutenant Sir Arthur Whitten Brown made the world’s first non-stop flight across the Atlantic in the modernised "Vimy" in July 1919.
FROG company released the Alcock & Brown Vickers "Vimy" scale model kit in 1964, and the bomber "Vimy" kit in 1973. In 1978, the latter kit went on sale in a package of NOVO.
