Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 “GINA” & Hawker Hurricane Mk.I is a unique Twin Pack set combining two iconic Royal Air Force aircraft from two completely different eras. The box contains models of the modern Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 “GINA” and the legendary Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, which became the inspiration for the Typhoon's distinctive historical paint scheme. Both models are in 1:72 scale, and the entire set consists of 97 parts.
The main highlight of the set is the direct connection between the modern Typhoon and the history of the Battle of Britain. The “GINA” aircraft received a camouflage scheme inspired by the Hurricane flown by Flight Lieutenant James Brindley Nicolson of No. 249 Squadron RAF. This makes the two models a unique and thematically coherent pair – from the classic fighter of 1940 to the modern multi-role combat aircraft.
The Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 is a modern multi-role combat aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force. It features a distinctive delta wing configuration with foreplanes and a modern silhouette that contrasts sharply with the classic Hurricane.
The “GINA” aircraft received a special paint scheme inspired by an aircraft from the Battle of Britain era. Applying a historical camouflage pattern to a modern jet created an eye-catching combination of RAF tradition and its contemporary identity.
The second model is the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I – one of the most important British fighters of the Second World War. It was the Hurricane flown by Flight Lieutenant James Brindley Nicolson that became the direct inspiration for the anniversary paint scheme of the “GINA” Typhoon.
On 16 August 1940, Nicolson was engaged in combat during the Battle of Britain when his Hurricane was hit and caught fire. Despite this, he continued fighting and attacked a German aircraft. For his actions, he was awarded the Victoria Cross – Britain's highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy.
The special Eurofighter paint scheme was created for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 2015. The Typhoon received a camouflage pattern inspired by Nicolson's Hurricane, creating a striking tribute to the history of British fighter aviation.
The name “GINA” comes from the letter code displayed on the aircraft's fuselage. The distinctive historical markings and camouflage made the aircraft stand out from standard Eurofighter schemes and turned it into one of the most recognisable commemorative Typhoons of the RAF.
Both models are in 1:72 scale, making them easy to display side by side. The set allows you to create a small collection illustrating the development of British fighter aviation – from the Hurricane of the Battle of Britain era to the modern Eurofighter.
The models are intended for self-assembly and require gluing and painting. Plastic model cement and suitable modelling paints are required for construction and finishing.
