Tupolev Tu-214 Civil Airliner from Zvezda is a model of a modern Russian passenger aircraft developed from the Tu-204. The model reproduces the characteristic shape of the twin-engine jet designed for medium- and long-haul routes.
The Tu-214 is a development of the Tu-204 passenger aircraft designed by the Tupolev Design Bureau as a successor to the earlier Tu-154 family. The aircraft features two jet engines mounted in nacelles beneath the wings and a conventional aerodynamic configuration with vertical and horizontal stabilizers.
The design was developed for passenger transport on medium- and long-haul routes. Compared with earlier Soviet passenger aircraft, it incorporated more modern structural solutions and onboard equipment.
The Tu-214 features a streamlined fuselage housing the passenger cabin and a large wing with modern control surfaces. Its landing gear is designed to operate from airports with different types of runway surfaces, while the main landing gear assemblies retract into the fuselage and engine nacelles.
The aircraft can be fitted with different passenger cabin configurations depending on the operator's requirements. The Tu-214 design has also served as the basis for specialised variants intended for missions other than passenger transport.
The Tu-214 entered service at the beginning of the 21st century. Aircraft of this type have been operated by Russian airlines, while the design has also been adapted for specialised versions intended for transport, observation and other roles.
The model is intended for assembly and painting. Plastic model cement and suitable modelling paints are required to complete the model.
