German Mounted Troops of the Second World War

German Mounted Troops from Riich Models is a set of military figures depicting two German cavalrymen on horseback. The 1:35 scale kit is suitable for dioramas showing Wehrmacht reconnaissance patrols, troop movements, supply transport or operations in areas where wheeled and tracked vehicles were difficult to use.

The Model

The figures represent German cavalrymen equipped and dressed in a style characteristic of the Second World War. The soldiers and horses feature carefully reproduced proportions and details suitable for painting and weathering.

The horses are presented in natural poses, allowing the modeller to create a more varied composition and avoid a repetitive appearance in larger dioramas. Saddles, harnesses, weapons and personal equipment add further detail to the completed figures.

The set can be combined with military vehicles, artillery pieces, horse-drawn transport, rural buildings and other diorama accessories in 1:35 scale. It can also be used to create a standalone historical scene.

Assembly and Painting

The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Before painting, the parts should be carefully removed from the sprues, cleaned of mould lines and test-fitted. Applying a primer is recommended to achieve an even surface and improve paint adhesion.

Use glue intended for plastic model kits during assembly. Glue, paints and modelling tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

German Cavalry During the Second World War

Despite the rapid mechanisation of the German armed forces, horses continued to play an important role in the Wehrmacht. They were used by cavalry units, reconnaissance detachments and supply formations, particularly in areas where motor vehicles had limited mobility.

Mounted units were especially valuable on the Eastern Front, where forests, marshes, poor roads and difficult terrain often restricted the use of trucks and armoured vehicles. Cavalrymen carried out patrols, reconnaissance, route protection and the transport of supplies and equipment.

Horse-mounted troops remained part of the German armed forces throughout the war, illustrating the continued coexistence of traditional forms of mobility with modern military technology.
