This limited-edition model kit represents the American M1A1 75mm Pack Howitzer used by the Chinese Expeditionary Force during the Second World War. The set includes the howitzer and three Chinese Nationalist soldiers, allowing the modeller to create a compact artillery scene or a detailed diorama depicting Allied operations in the China-Burma-India Theater.
The M1A1 75mm Pack Howitzer was developed in the United States as a lightweight artillery piece designed for transportation through difficult terrain. Its carriage could be disassembled into several sections and transported by pack animals, aircraft or infantry units. This made the weapon particularly useful for mountain warfare and operations in areas where conventional artillery and vehicles were difficult to deploy.
Through the Lend-Lease program, M1A1 howitzers were supplied to Chinese Nationalist forces, including units of the Chinese Expeditionary Force operating against Japanese troops in Burma and southwestern China. The weapon combined relatively low weight with useful firepower and could be moved effectively across mountainous terrain.
