Based on the famous Panzerkampfwagen V "Panther", the "Jagdpanther" was superior in battle to any allied opponent thanks to a successful combination of mobility, armour and fire power. The jagdpanther, fitted with an 88 mm Pak 43/3 L/71, had gone in production in January 1944. To answer the various tasks requested from the deutschen pioniere (German sappers) during WW2, several specialised sappers units have been created. Top of the breed were the sturmpioniere (assault sappers), who, while fighting with the infantry, had to storm the enemy's defences head on.
