Description

75 mm M48 & M72 Ammo with Wooden Crates

An accessory set designed to enhance models and dioramas depicting Allied armored units from World War II. It includes 75 mm M48 and M72 rounds, spent shell casings, and wooden transport crates. These parts are suitable for use with models such as the M4 Sherman, M3 Lee/Grant, M24 Chaffee, and Churchill Mk.VI–VII, as well as in scenes depicting ammunition loading, resupply, and maintenance operations.

Set Contents

  • 15 M48 rounds
  • 10 M72 rounds
  • 5 spent shell casings
  • 10 wooden transport crates
  • Decals for ammunition and crate markings

Historical Background

75 mm caliber ammunition was widely used by Allied armored forces during World War II. The M48 was a high-explosive (HE) round designed primarily to engage infantry, fortifications, and unarmored targets. The M72, on the other hand, was a solid armor-piercing round that relied on kinetic energy to penetrate armor.

Both types of ammunition were fired from 75 mm tank guns mounted on vehicles such as the M4 Sherman and M3 Lee/Grant. Maintaining adequate ammunition stocks was essential for combat readiness; consequently, crates containing these rounds could be found in depots and supply points, as well as during the actual process of replenishing tank supplies.

Diorama Use

The set allows you to create scenes depicting tank ammunition loading, supply transport, a field depot, or a supply point. Wooden crates, shells, and spent casings can be arranged both inside and around the vehicle, creating a more realistic setting for Allied armored vehicle models.

Assembly and Painting

The kit consists of plastic parts for self-assembly and requires gluing and painting. Glue and paints are not included. Basic modeling tools and plastic cement are required to assemble the models.
