This model represents a set of RAF Type C Mk. II bomb trolleys, a characteristic element of British Air Force ground support during World War II. These small trolleys were used to transport bombs between warehouses, weapon preparation stations, and aircraft awaiting flight. This set allows you to enhance your airport diorama with a small but highly distinctive piece of technical equipment.
Bomb transport trolleys were one of the fundamental elements of the ground support facilities at British airfields. Their task was to safely and efficiently deliver weapons from warehouses or storage areas to aircraft. Their simple design allowed ground personnel to manually move heavy loads, which were then lifted and secured under the aircraft.
During World War II, efficient organization of ground personnel was crucial to maintaining the high operational tempo of RAF units. Preparing an aircraft for the next flight included, among other things, refueling, technical inspections, and replenishing weapons and ammunition. Bomb trolleys, though small and often omitted from popular depictions of military equipment, were an essential element of this process.
The Type C Mk. II can be used in scenes depicting British airfields during World War II, with both fighter and bomber aircraft. The set integrates well with other MiniArt airfield accessories, including tractors used for aircraft maintenance.
The trolleys can be depicted transporting bombs, preparing weapons, or directly next to an aircraft awaiting loading. The small size of the pieces also allows them to be used as additional details in a larger airfield scene, complementing technical vehicles, ground personnel, and aircraft.
This model is part of the MiniArt sets released in June 2026. The manufacturer lists it as RAF Bomb Trolleys Type C Mk. II.
Note: The kit is intended for self-assembly and painting. Glue and paints are not included.
