A plastic model kit of the Italian Macchi MC.202 Folgore fighter. The kit is made using new molds and includes photo-etched parts, decals for six marking variants, 3D cockpit decals, and a paint mask. When assembled, the model measures approximately 18.4 cm in length.
The Macchi MC.202 Folgore was one of the most important Italian fighters used by the Regia Aeronautica during World War II. Its design was a development of the earlier Macchi MC.200 Saetta, but the use of a liquid-cooled, inline Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, manufactured in Italy under license, significantly improved the aircraft's performance.
The new propulsion and aerodynamically refined design gave the MC.202 significantly higher speeds than earlier Italian fighters equipped with radial engines. The Folgore reached a speed of around 600 km/h while maintaining good maneuverability and handling characteristics.
Early versions of the MC.202 were armed with two Breda-SAFAT 12.7 mm machine guns located in the forward fuselage. In later versions, the armament was reinforced to increase the aircraft's effectiveness against Allied fighters.
The Folgore was used by Italian fighter units in various theaters of war, including North Africa and the Eastern Front. Thanks to its good performance, it was one of the most competitive Italian fighters in the first half of the war.
Note: The kit contains one model. The figure shown in the manufacturer's materials is not included. Glue and paints are not included. Basic modeling tools are also required to build the model.
