Kit features:
The battles over Khalkhin Gol took place in 1939 along the border between Mongolia and Manchuria. The conflict between Japanese forces and Soviet-Mongolian troops involved intense fighting on the ground and in the air. Aviation played a particularly important role, with both sides committing numerous fighter units to the campaign.
The Soviet I-16 and I-153 represented two different approaches to fighter design. The I-16 was a modern monoplane for its time, featuring retractable landing gear, while the I-153 Chaika was an advanced biplane distinguished by its distinctive gull-shaped upper wing.
On the Japanese side, one of the main fighters was the Nakajima Ki-27, also known as the Type 97. This lightweight monoplane, with an open cockpit and fixed landing gear, was renowned for its excellent manoeuvrability. During the early stages of the conflict, it posed a serious challenge to Soviet aircraft, particularly in turning dogfights.
The air campaign over Khalkhin Gol provided an important test for both nations' air forces and generated valuable experience that influenced the further development of combat aircraft and aerial tactics.
Three plastic aircraft kits for individual assembly and painting. Glue and paints are not included and must be purchased separately.
