This kit represents the American UH-1C Huey Gunship attack helicopter in 1:48 scale. It is the first release in ICM's Huey/Iroquois model family, produced using completely new moulds. The model offers several weapon loadout options, allowing the distinctive appearance of a Vietnam War-era gunship to be recreated.
The kit contains 186 parts, a 3D instrument panel decal and markings for three American helicopters that served in Vietnam:
The instructions include full-colour painting and marking guides. The completed model measures approximately 335 mm in length.
The Bell UH-1, widely known as the Huey, was developed to meet the US Army's need for a versatile utility helicopter. The first examples arrived in Vietnam in 1962, where they were used for transport, medical evacuation and fire support. The growing demand for armed helicopters led to the development of the specialised UH-1C variant.
The UH-1C entered service in 1965. It featured a more powerful engine and wider main rotor blades, improving performance and manoeuvrability when carrying weapons. One of its characteristic configurations was the XM21 armament system, comprising two six-barrel 7.62 mm M134 Miniguns and pods carrying 70 mm unguided rockets.
Huey gunships provided cover for assault operations, secured landing zones and supported troops on the ground. Their considerable firepower and ability to operate in difficult terrain made them one of the most recognisable symbols of American aviation during the Vietnam War.
This plastic kit requires assembly and painting. Glue and paints are sold separately.
