The Hobby 2000 kit is based on plastic parts originally produced by the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa, enhanced with additional components to simplify assembly and improve the appearance of the finished model. The set includes high-quality decals by Cartograf, masks for precise painting of the glazing (canopy/windows), and extra parts produced using 3D-printing technology. This equipment allows for the creation of a more detailed and realistic model of the PBJ-1J Mitchell.

While the PBJ-1J retained the distinctive silhouette of the twin-engine Mitchell, it was equipped for maritime operations.
