The Air Self-Defense Force's F-2 jet fighter, which was jointly developed by Japan and the United States as a support fighter mainly for anti-ship/close ground support, flew for the first time in 1995 and has been in service since 2000. deployed in troops. Of the 94 produced/deployed, 62 were single-seat F-2As, while 32 were double-seat F-2Bs. Instead of the T-2, which was an advanced trainer version of the F-1 support fighter, the F-2B is responsible for the fighter pilot training course (F-2) and is working to train fighter pilots. In addition, the 3rd, 6th, and 8th squadrons that operate the F-2A also have F-2Bs deployed for training within the unit.
Based on the F-2A kit to be released in advance, new F-2B parts such as the upper surface of the fuselage and the base of the vertical stabilizer are produced. Attached decals reproduce the aircraft belonging to the 3rd Squadron (Hyakuri Base), 6th Squadron (Tsukigi Base), and 21st Squadron (Matsushima Base).
