Type 40 Heavy Personnel Vehicle with 2 cm FlaK 38 is a detailed plastic model kit depicting the German Type 40 heavy personnel vehicle with a towed 2 cm FlaK 38 anti-aircraft gun. The kit features accurately reproduced chassis, bodywork, suspension and wheels, as well as a detailed gun. It also includes 3D-printed components and photo-etched parts for enhanced reproduction of fine details. The vehicle body is moulded as a single piece, while the wheels feature realistically reproduced tread patterns.
The model is designed for assembly and painting. The individual parts must be removed from the sprues, fitted and joined using modelling glue. The small 3D-printed and photo-etched components require particularly careful assembly. Glue and paints are not included.
The Type 40 was a heavy four-wheel-drive personnel vehicle produced by Horch from 1938. It was used in various roles and on all major theatres of operations during World War II. Its 4×4 drivetrain provided good mobility in field conditions, while the vehicle was powered by a 3.8-litre V8 engine. Production ended in 1941 as part of efforts to simplify and standardise German military vehicle production.
The vehicle in the kit is accompanied by a 2 cm FlaK 38, an automatic anti-aircraft gun widely used by the German armed forces. In the depicted configuration, the gun is mounted on a trailer towed by the Type 40. The model reproduces the gun's construction and mechanisms in detail, with a hollowed-out muzzle.
