Description

Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. E Sd.Kfz. 181 Early Production "Knispel's Tiger" is a highly detailed plastic model kit depicting an early-production Tiger I heavy tank. The kit features extensively refined details throughout the hull, turret, suspension and engine deck, with particular attention paid to the characteristic features of early Tiger I vehicles. The set includes Magic Track individual-link tracks, photo-etched parts, 3D-printed components and an aluminium gun barrel. Numerous small details have been reproduced to accurately represent the complex construction of the original vehicle.

The model is intended for self-assembly and painting. The parts must be removed from the sprues, carefully fitted and joined using model cement. The individual-link Magic Track system allows the tracks to be assembled with a natural sag and realistic appearance. The photo-etched, metal and 3D-printed components provide additional detail for the more demanding modeller. Glue, paints and other finishing materials are not included.

Kurt Knispel was one of the best-known German tank crews of the Second World War. He served as a gunner and later as a tank commander, operating both Tiger I and Tiger II tanks. From 1943 onwards he fought on the Eastern Front with schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503, taking part in major operations including the Battle of Kursk and subsequent fighting in Ukraine.

The vehicle represented by the model is an early-production Tiger marked with the tactical number 131. The kit is based on research into the vehicles and equipment associated with Knispel and pays particular attention to the configuration of early Tiger I tanks. The combination of historically characteristic details and the extensive additional parts makes the kit suitable for modellers interested in accurately depicting German armoured vehicles of the Second World War.

The Tiger I was one of the most famous German tanks of the Second World War. It combined heavy armour with the powerful 8.8 cm KwK 36 L/56 gun, giving it a significant advantage against many Allied armoured vehicles when it entered service. Early-production Tigers featured a number of distinctive design details that changed during the vehicle's production run, making accurate representation of the particular production period especially important for scale modellers.
