The Border Model BF015 is an exceptional kit depicting one of the most recognizable American fighter aircraft of World War II. This 1:35 scale model stands out thanks to factory-painted parts with a metallic finish that mimics aluminum, an extensive internal structure, and a highly detailed cockpit and engine.

The use of pre-painted parts reduces the need for painting, allowing the modeler to focus on assembly and finishing touches. At the same time, the surface remains suitable for further modeling techniques such as washes, weathering, pigment application, or even a complete repaint.

North American P-51D Mustang

The P-51D Mustang was the most widely produced version of the P-51 family and one of the most important Allied fighters during the final stages of World War II. The aircraft combined high speed, good handling characteristics, and significant range, enabling it to escort heavy bombers on long-range missions over enemy territory.

The introduction of the Packard V-1650 Merlin engine significantly improved the Mustang's performance. The P-51D variant also featured a distinctive "bubble canopy," providing the pilot with excellent all-round visibility. Its armament consisted of six wing-mounted 12.7 mm Browning M2 heavy machine guns.

P-51D Mustangs played a particularly important role in escorting B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator bombers. Their long range enabled the protection of bomber formations during flights over Europe, contributing to the Allies gaining air superiority.
