This 1:72 scale plastic model kit represents the Curtiss H-75A1/A2 fighter aircraft, featuring three historically interesting marking options associated with French, Vichy French and Finnish service. The kit uses Arma Hobby’s new 2025 moulds and includes additional details available as a free 3D-printable file.
The Curtiss H-75, known in the United States as the P-36 Hawk, was developed as a modern single-seat fighter with an all-metal structure, retractable landing gear and good handling characteristics. France ordered the export H-75A version to strengthen its fighter force before the outbreak of the Second World War.
During the French Campaign of 1940, Curtiss H-75s engaged Luftwaffe aircraft in combat and achieved numerous aerial victories. Following the fall of France, some aircraft remained in service with Vichy French units, particularly in North Africa. Others were captured by German forces and later transferred to Finland, where they continued operational service on the Eastern Front.

This aircraft served with the Vichy French Air Force in North Africa. On 9 November 1942, during Operation Torch, Georges Tesseraud took part in combat against F4F-4 Wildcats of VF-9. His aircraft was seriously damaged and Tesseraud was badly wounded, but he managed to disengage and make a forced landing near Bouhat.
CU-577 was one of the former French Curtiss fighters captured by German forces after the fall of France and subsequently transferred to Finland. The aircraft served with LeLv 32 and was used in combat operations on the Eastern Front.
This aircraft was operated by the CIC fighter training centre at Chartres. It was also flown by Czechoslovak pilots training in France before entering combat service, including Alois Vašátko. In May 1940, the aircraft was transferred to the operational unit GC II/5.
The marking options included in this kit illustrate three very different chapters in the history of the Curtiss H-75: service with the French Air Force in 1940, combat operations with Vichy French units in North Africa, and Finnish service on the Eastern Front. All three aircraft began their careers as French fighters, but the course of the war took them to different countries and battlefronts.
