Plastic model kit of the Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate, one of the most capable Japanese fighters of the late Second World War. The kit allows the modeller to build one of two aircraft associated with experienced Japanese Army pilots who achieved notable combat records while flying the Hayate.
The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate, meaning „Gale”, was one of the most advanced Japanese Army fighters to enter large-scale production during the Second World War. The aircraft combined high speed, good manoeuvrability, powerful armament and strong performance at low and medium altitudes.
The Ki-84 entered combat in 1944 and quickly demonstrated its ability to challenge the latest Allied fighters. Its performance made it one of the few Japanese fighters capable of effectively engaging advanced American aircraft during the final phase of the war.
Hayate fighters operated on several fronts in the Pacific and East Asia. They were also used to intercept American Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers during the defence of the Japanese homeland. As the war progressed, Ki-84 units were increasingly committed to the defence of Japan and to operations against the advancing Allied forces.
The „Aces” edition focuses on two aircraft associated with experienced Japanese Army pilots. Their distinctive markings provide the opportunity to reproduce two individual Hayate fighters with documented operational histories.
Note: The kit does not include glue or paints. Basic modelling tools are also required to assemble and finish the model.
