The Blackburn "Skua" carrier-borne dive bomber entered full-scale production in 1938 and service with the Fleet Air Arm in autumn 1938. The "Skua" first saw action in September 1939. "Skua" dive bombers attacked the German battleship "Scharnhorst", albeit without success. The Royal Navy started to transfer its "Skuas" to training units in March 1941. A total of 192 aircraft in the single Mk.II variant were manufactured.
