The Fairey "Barracuda" British carrier-borne torpedo bomber performed its first flight in December 1940. Its full-scale production was launched in May 1942, and "Barracudas" started fielding with combat units in January 1943. Aircraft of the type delivered a number of attacks against German battleship "Tirpitz" in April through August 1944. In all, 2,607 "Barracudas" were produced in three variants during WWII.
