The delivery of the Hawker "Hurricane" British fighters to the Soviet Union under the lend-lease agreement started in August 1941. The first planes were fielded to the Air Forces of the Northern Fleet of the Soviet Navy and the 6th Fighter Aviation Corps of the Moscow Air Defense. Then "Hurricanes" came to other sections of the Eastern Front. However, they were assigned the sole mission of providing air defense coverage in 1943. The "Hurricane" had been in the Red Army’s Air Forces service until late 1945. A total of 3,082 "Hurricanes" of various modifications were delivered to the Soviet Union.
