The Estima Lucida/ Emina was introduced in January 1992 as a 5-number body-only model based on the first Estima, which was a hit when it was released in 1990, taking into account the road conditions in Japan.
At the time, the Lucida was sold exclusively at Toyota Corolla dealerships and the Emina was sold exclusively at Toyota dealerships.
Its futuristic and streamlined "one motion shape" design, which resembles an egg, was highly regarded and it became a very popular car with the nickname "Child Estima".
