Schwerer Jagdpanzer Elefant from Amusing Hobby is a highly detailed model of the German heavy tank destroyer Sd.Kfz.184, featuring a complete interior and realistically reproduced Zimmerit coating. The kit represents the improved Elefant configuration developed after the vehicle's initial combat experience and includes numerous details intended for advanced model builders.

The kit is designed to reproduce the Elefant with a complete interior, allowing the modeller to show the internal structure of the vehicle. The engine compartment, transmission system, fighting compartment, ammunition storage and gun assembly are all represented in detail.
The Zimmerit anti-magnetic coating is moulded directly onto the relevant parts, eliminating the need to apply the pattern manually. The kit also includes transparent sections of the hull and roof, which can be used to display the interior after assembly.
The redesigned split rear hatch represents one of the improvements introduced on later Elefant vehicles. Individual-link tracks, photo-etched parts and 3D-printed components provide additional detail and allow for a more refined finished model.
This is an advanced model kit intended for experienced modellers. Due to the extensive interior, construction is best carried out in stages, beginning with the engine and fighting compartments before closing the hull.
The interior should be painted and weathered before the main hull is assembled, especially if the transparent components are to be used for display. Photo-etched and metal parts are best attached with cyanoacrylate adhesive.
Glue, paints and modelling tools are not included and must be purchased separately. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Schwerer Jagdpanzer Elefant was a German heavy tank destroyer developed from the chassis originally designed by Ferdinand Porsche for the Tiger (P) project. The vehicle was armed with the powerful 8.8 cm Pak 43/2 L/71 anti-tank gun, capable of engaging heavily armoured targets at long distances.
The first vehicles, known as Ferdinand, entered combat during the Battle of Kursk in 1943. Although their main gun proved highly effective, the vehicles revealed several weaknesses, including limited close-range defence against infantry and mechanical reliability problems.
Following their initial combat deployment, surviving vehicles were rebuilt and improved. The modifications included the installation of a bow-mounted machine gun, a commander's cupola, additional armour improvements and the Zimmerit coating. The upgraded vehicles were redesignated Elefant.
The Elefant served primarily on the Eastern Front and in Italy. Its powerful main gun and heavy frontal armour made it a dangerous opponent at long range, but its considerable weight, complex propulsion system and limited mobility restricted its tactical flexibility.
The vehicle's size and mechanical complexity also resulted in high maintenance requirements. Despite these disadvantages, the Elefant remains one of the most recognisable German tank destroyers of the Second World War.
Only a limited number of Elefants were produced. Approximately 91 Ferdinand vehicles were built in 1943, with around 48 subsequently rebuilt and upgraded to the Elefant standard.
