12 x 20ml acrylic paints
The Ionic WWII USMC Infantry Uniforms 1942–1945 Set includes 12 acrylic paints specially selected for recreating the iconic uniforms of the US Marine Corps during World War 2.
The Ionic Smart Colors WWII USMC Infantry 1942–1945 set includes 12 acrylic paints carefully selected to provide the essential tones for painting the uniforms and equipment of United States Marine Corps infantry during the Pacific campaigns of World War II.
This set of 12 colors contains everything needed to depict Marines from the early Guadalcanal operations up to the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Early in the war, many Marines wore the P41 utility uniform, made in Olive Drab HBT and prone to fading under the tropical sun into lighter, more muted green or brownish tones.
The reversible P42 camouflage uniform also appeared in these campaigns, featuring the well-known “frogskin" pattern with green, brown, and sand tones on the jungle side, and beige with brown shapes on the beach side.
Later in the war, the P44 uniform became common, with a slightly cooler Olive Drab tone and similar fading effects. Webbing and field gear were typically khaki or light olive drab, while helmets were standard M1 helmets in Olive Drab Nº3 or Nº7, often dulled by dust, wear, and grime from island terrain.
The set also includes the tones required for leather boots, equipment pouches, the M1943 entrenching tool, and other accessories, as well as wood and metal colors for rifles and small details. Finally, the set is completed with a universal highlight color, Bone, ideal for adding lighter tones and worn effects across fabrics and gear.
Because real uniforms varied significantly due to sun exposure, humidity, and battlefield wear, the colors in this set can be freely mixed to create subtle variations and alternative shades, helping you reproduce the wide range of tones seen in the Pacific and add depth, realism.
