Modern German 120mm Tank Ammunition Set B (aluminium)
Kinetic energy (KE) penetrator tank ammunition rounds developed by Rheinmetall for the Leopard 2 tank.
DM12 introduced in 1978 was the first KE round to use a depleted uranium (DU) penetrator. It was used by the German Army and other NATO countries during the Gulf War and the wars in the Balkans.
DM28 introduced in 1988 is an improved version of the DM12 that uses a longer and more powerful penetrator. It was developed in response to the Soviet Union's new armour technologies. The DM28 was used by the German Army and other NATO countries during the Kosovo War and the War in Afghanistan.
DM33 introduced in 2004 is the most advanced KE penetrator round in service today. It uses a new type of DU penetrator that is more effective against modern armour. The DM33 was developed in response to new Russian and Chinese armour technologies. The DM33 is used by the German Army and other NATO countries, including the United States.
